At this point it’s pretty certain that the Galaxy Ring, Samsung’s entry into a new category of health-focused wearables, won’t be arriving this year. Now Silġ univers offers a launch window: The Ring will be announced at the Galaxy S24 unveiling event in January.

More importantly, it seems that Samsung has high expectations for this new product line as the tipster claims that the Galaxy Ring will be the flagship product of the event, possibly surpassing the Galaxy S24 series itself.

While the Unpacked events for the S22 and S23 series took place in February, there were also launches in January. And we’re already seeing detailed leaks about the Galaxy S24 series, so a slightly earlier launch seems quite possible. As for the ring, the question remains whether it will be ready in time.

Samsung is reportedly ready to start mass production, but things are moving slowly due to the additional regulatory clearances needed for a health tracking product. The Ring is expected to synthesize the health-focused features of the Galaxy Watch, eliminating most (all?) of the smartwatch’s features (it’s unclear whether it will even have a display).

The Galaxy Ring’s smaller, less obtrusive form factor could appeal to a wider audience: People who prefer classic watches or don’t want to wear a watch at all, but still want sleep, heart rate, and exercise tracking. What if silġ true, this will be more than a ring-shaped smartband, it will be Samsung’s next big thing in the field of wearables (speaking of smartbands, Samsung seems to have given up on the segment).
