The Oppo Find X5 Pro competes with flagship devices from Samsung, Huawei and Apple in the Ultra Premium segment, and this is reflected in the hardware specifications. With a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chipset, a 6.70-inch AMOLED display with QHD + resolution and a triple rear camera with ultra-wide and tele, the new Oppo features high-end components in many areas.

Things seem a little simpler for the front-facing camera which uses a fixed focus lens to channel light onto a 32MP sensor. In video mode, you can record Selfie movies with a resolution of 1080p and 30 frames per second. Read on to find out how the X5 Pro’s front camera performed in the SBMARK Selfie test.

Sommarju tat-test

Prosperità

  • Good detail at close range
  • Rather wide dynamic range
  • Livelli baxxi ta' storbju
  • Good focus, decent detail, and beautiful, vivid colors in the video
  • Low noise in bright light and indoor video

kontra

  • Instability of exposure
  • The white balance increases, especially in bright light conditions
  • Limited depth of field
  • Image artifacts, including color quantization and unnatural skin rendering
  • Stabbilizzazzjoni tal-vidjo ineffettiva
  • Unstable exposure and white balance in the video
  • Noise in video in low light conditions
  • Hue shift effect near cut-out areas of skin tone

With a SBMARK Selfie score of 89, the Oppo Find X5 Pro is behind the best front-facing cameras in the Ultra Premium segment and offers performance quite close to previous Oppo devices in the lower price segments, such as the Reno6 Pro.

This image shows a wide dynamic range and good exposure, but also shows inconsistent color rendering and halo artifacts.

When taking selfies, the camera usually gets the correct target exposure and captures a wide dynamic range. However, our testers observed some display instabilities. We also saw frequent white balance casts on all skin tone types. Details are high at close range in most conditions, but limited dynamic range means subjects behind the plane of focus are made soft. Noise is well under control in most situations, but some image artifacts, such as color quantization or unnatural skin rendering, may be visible.

Noise comparison: Noise is well controlled on the X5 Pro in bright light and indoors.

In video mode, the Oppo Find X5 Pro generally records well-exposed footage. Color is acceptable and detail is decent enough, as the Oppo records at 1080p versus 4K resolution on most of its direct competitors. On the downside, instabilities in exposure and white balance are often noticeable in all lighting conditions. Furthermore, very poor video stabilization means that videos recorded on the go are almost unusable.
