While much of the attention of both the media and consumers can be captured by the high-end Galaxy S line, Samsung also produces many low-end devices and continues to add more and more to its roster seemingly every month.

Case in point: Today the company quietly unveiled the Galaxy A04e, not to be confused with the Galaxy A04 announced in August, nor the Galaxy A04 which went official in September. The October letter is apparently “e”, so let’s see what we get here.

The Galaxy A04e features a 6.5-inch HD + PLS LCD touchscreen, a 13MP rear camera with a 2MP depth sensor next to it, a 5MP selfie snapper, an unnamed SoC with an octa CPU -core (rumored to be the MediaTek Helio G35), 3 or 4GB RAM, 32/64 / 128GB expandable storage, LTE support (no 5G here), 2.4GHz Wi-Fi only (no band 5 GHz so no Wi-Fi 5 or 6) and 5,000 mAh battery.

It runs Android 12 with One UI Core 4.1 on top, which is the stripped down version of the Samsung skin for low-end phones. It measures 164.2 x 75.9 x 9.1mm and weighs 188g. While Samsung doesn’t explicitly mention this, it’s most likely made of plastic all over the place. Whenever it hits the streets, you’ll be able to purchase the A04e in three color variations, shown in the images above. They are descriptively called black, blue and copper.

Compared to the A04, the A04e has a lower resolution main camera and also starts with less RAM and doesn’t even go that high. Compared to the A04s, the A04e has a lower refresh rate screen (60Hz vs 90Hz), a lower resolution main camera, one less camera (no macro shooter) and perhaps a different chipset (although it remains to be confirm ). Otherwise, these three are virtually identical.

Since the A04e appears to be the lower end of the trio, we assume it will eventually end up being the cheapest as well, but unfortunately Samsung hasn’t disclosed any pricing or availability information yet.
