Oppo today unveiled a new folding flip along with a pair of watches – one with an advanced sensor suite and an affordable model. We’ve already talked about the Find N3 Flip, now let’s take a look at the watches.

Oppo Watch 4 Pro

The Oppo Watch 4 Pro has a similar design to the 3 Pro but has upgrades inside and out. Starting on the outside, the body of the watch is now made from stainless steel instead of aluminum which should make it a bit more durable, and it’s a bit heavier (52.3g versus 37.5g).

The steel has been given a brushed finish to contrast with the knurling of the crown. In addition, the bottom is made of ceramic, which is durable and avoids any skin problems.

The display is still curved in a gentle arc. It’s a 1.91-inch LTPO AMOLED panel as before with the same 378 x 396 px (326ppi).

There are two versions of the Watch 4 Pro: Polar Night Black, which has a black body and a fluororubber band, and Dawn Brown, which has a champagne color on the body and a brown leather band.

The watch features an advanced sensor suite that can provide you with a 60-second exam by monitoring 7 key vital signs. The main components included in the examination are ECG, heart rate, age of blood vessels, sleep and stress. It can measure things like the elasticity of blood vessels, it can detect arterial fibrillation, snoring and more.

Interestingly, this model includes real-time blood glucose monitoring and will sound the alarm if the values change abnormally. The watch is also equipped with a skin temperature sensor (accurate to within 0.1°C).

Like its predecessor, this watch is powered by the Snapdragon W5+ chipset and features a BES 2700 chip for low-power operation. This year Oppo doubled the RAM to 2GB, the storage remains at 32GB.

The watch runs on a 570mAh battery (a bit bigger than last year) and will last up to 5 days in full smartwatch mode, up to 2.5 days with heavy use. Light mode can last up to a couple of weeks, and fast charging is available, so 10 minutes is enough to last you a full day (a full charge takes just over an hour).

This watch has an eSIM so it has 4G connectivity on the go. There is also NFC, although for now its functions are specific to China. Also available Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 5.0.

For exercise tracking, major positioning satellites are supported, and the watch body is rated for 5 ATM water resistance, so you can take it to the pool.

The Oppo Watch 5 Pro is available for pre-order in China starting today, you can find it on the official Oppo store. Shipping and open sales will begin on September 8th.

The Polar Night Black version costs CNY 2,300 ($315/€290/₹26,000), but there is an early bird offer and you can get it for CNY 100 less. The Dawn Brawn model comes with two straps, so it’s a bit more expensive: 2,500 CNY ($345/€320/₹28,750). Again, 100 CNY discount is available if you pre-order.

Oppo Watch SE

While the Pro is advanced and quite expensive, the Oppo Watch SE is an affordable alternative for those who don’t need state-of-the-art sensors or a stainless steel body. The SE is made of composite material and has a 1.75″ flat AMOLED display (372 x 430px, 326ppi).

One of the downgrades is that it’s powered by the Snapdragon Wear 4100, an older 12nm component (up from 4nm on the W5+). This was the chipset used in the 2021 Oppo Watch 2 (although that one had a larger 1.91-inch display). Either way, the Wear 4100 is paired with 1GB of RAM and 8GB of storage.

This watch is quite light weighing in at 31g but comes with a fairly large 400mAh battery. It should be enough for 3 days (10 days in Light mode). Like its Pro sibling, fast charging delivers a day’s battery life after just 10 minutes, a full charge takes an hour.

While not a Pro model, the SE also has an eSIM for phone-free on-the-go connectivity, as well as positioning with major satellite constellations. NFC technology is also available for mobile payments, public transport access, etc. Additional connectivity includes Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 5.0.

It lacks the more advanced sensors, but it still monitors your heart rate 24/7 and can alert you to an irregular heart rhythm. It will also evaluate the quality of your sleep by monitoring your blood oxygen levels. And it’s rated at 5 ATM for pool swim laps.

The Oppo Watch SE is available now at the Oppo Shop in China at a base price of CNY 1,000 ($140/€125/₹11,500). This is for the Gray and Purple models (comes with silicone straps), the Dark Brown model with leather strap costs a little more, CNY 1,100.
