If you’ve always wanted to create long-form content on X (formerly Twitter), well, now you can. We’re not sure why you’d want to do this on a platform like this that can remove it whenever it wants (or gets bored with the newly introduced feature), but to each their own. Maybe this is meant to address Substack?

Anyway, this is the news. X now lets you create “Articles,” which are long-form content on its platform. The socket? You must be a Premium+ subscriber. That means paying $X16 per month or $168 per year. Alternatively, you must be part of a verified organization.

If you are one of those people, you can start writing articles by selecting “Article” in the sidebar. You get bold, italic, and strikethrough text formatting options, as well as bullets and numbered lists. And you can also embed images and videos “to enhance your storytelling and add visual interest to your articles.”

There will be a new Posts tab on your profile and your posts will appear in your followers’ timeline just like regular X posts. Posts will be uniquely distinguishable because they have a unique icon and layout, so your content will long lasting stand out. Yet, embedding an article gets you what you see above: just a link to it. That’s pretty unfortunate, isn’t it?
