Valve’s latest portable gaming gadget, the Steam Deck, launched in early 2022, but it took the company about 10 months to overcome hurdles in production and delivery to customers.

The company today announced that four major Asian markets will also receive the handheld PC starting December 17: Japan, Taiwan, Korea and Hong Kong. In all cases it is through Komodo, which is the official distributor of Steam Deck in these regions.

Valve finally begins shipping Steam Decks to Japan, Taiwan, Korea, and Hong Kong

The launch was initially announced in August when Valve set up landing pages on their respective regional websites for pre-orders. Users who pre-ordered will start receiving emails tomorrow to finalize their purchases and December 17 will be the shipping date.

The American company is aiming high with this announcement as the country of origin of Nintendo and Sony is known for its huge mobile and handheld gaming industry which is more popular than regular PC gaming.

The prices of the Steam Deck in Asia are quite close to what Valve asks in Europe (from € 419) and in the United States (from $ 399).
