Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy Z Flip5, which isn’t expected to launch for a few months, could solve two major problems people still have with its predecessor, the Z Flip4. At least if today’s rumors on the matter are revealed. In the corner of the rumors is the fact that it comes from Display Supply Chain Consultants CEO Ross Young, who has been specific about these things in the past. On the other side is the fact that sometimes something weird gets wrong, so keep that in mind.

Either way, let’s hope the Galaxy Z Flip5 really does, as Young claims, come with a much larger display coverage. Apparently this will be around 3.3″ to 3.4″, which is an order of magnitude larger than the 1.9″ screen we’re currently getting on the Flip4.

For what it’s worth, Oppo’s upcoming Find N2 Flip, a direct competitor to Samsung’s Flip line, leaked today with a large external display. And while that clearly dwarfs the Flip4s, the Flip5 could reach and even exceed its 3.26-inch size.

The internal screen should also get an upgrade, according to Young, and that’s in the creases department. Notably, the Flip5 is said to sport a new zipper design that will “reduce the visibility of the seam.” It’s unclear if it will also reduce crease feel, but we’ll take what we can get here.

Samsung’s Chinese competitors have consistently produced devices with less visible (and less palpable) creases in their foldable screens, so it’s good to see the Korean company making some progress here. Better late than never, as they say.
